Athlete Development Program (ADP)
The Athlete Development Program (ADP) is a part of the Leadership Project that is specifically designed for college athletes. Athletes will work 20-25 hrs and will also spend 2 hours a day working out. Athletes will be challenged in the weight rooms and in their workouts, but will also be engaged on the issues of being an athlete in college today. Leadership of this program will be led by both staff and students.
1. We believe that desire and passion are an intregal part of being both an athlete and a Christian. Thus we want to help generate a passion for God and a desire to play as unto the Lord.
2. Training is our most acute influence; it is the fuel that takes the spark and causes a flame. We believe in an integrated approach to training where the spiritual and the physical work together.
3. Finally we would hope that ADP would set our athletes on fire with a passion for God for the good of their teams and campuses.
Structures:
- Athletes are paired up in rooms in order to provide a level of shared experience and accountability.
- Leadership would come from both a staff and student leader.
- Athletes would work a minimum of 20 hrs and a maximum of 25 hrs a week and train for at least 2 hours every day. An emphasis on support raising would be made for these athletes in order to cut the amount of money they would need to make to cover the cost of LP.
- Athletes are required to provide their summer workouts to the designated leadership to be the guide for their summer workouts.
- Being an athlete will only be part of their summer identity. They still would be responsible to be part of the flow of the project by influencing and being influenced by other non-athletes on the project.
- Bi-weekly evaluations would be done by each athlete in order to establish progress and set the course for next few weeks.
