Our Story:
Jamie surrendered his life to Christ at a camp before his senior year in high school. He spent the next year trying to live in a relationship with Christ without much guidance or direction. He started studying the Bible on his own and started in Revelation. Obviously, that was a little bit confusing at that point! His first year at PC a Campus Outreach staff guy began spending time with him and some friends and taught them through certain tools and his life how to walk with God, study the Bible, pray, share his faith with others, fight for holiness in his life, along with many other things.
Jamie’s senior year, a cute, young Frances showed up on campus and he fell madly in love immediately. Ok, that’s not exactly how it happened, but Jamie and I did share a year together at PC and spent some time together through both being involved in CO. My freshman year God opened my eyes to see that though I had a lot of knowledge of Him and tried to live by moral standards, I had not allowed Christ to be the Lord of my life. God used roommates, Campus Outreach talks and meetings, and Christmas Conference to call me to Himself. Like Jamie, I was discipled by several women on staff with Campus Outreach my last three years in college and had such great opportunities to grow in my faith. After graduation Jamie went on staff at Western Carolina and after a year of dating during my senior year, we were engaged.
We’ve been married 5 years in March of 2009, and God has taught us a lot through marriage and now parenting. In November of 2005 Lucy made us parents and fourteen months later Bella joined us! Simon broke the streak of girls in May 2009, and I think we’re all very glad to have a boy in the family.
We are fighting to love and enjoy each other through the terrible two’s and three’s and certainly have a ways to go before God is finished refining us! We are so thankful for the ways God has worked in us to draw us closer to Himself through the ministry of Campus Outreach and love being able to give to others what’s been so graciously given to us.
Our hobbies:
Jamie – watching, playing, and reading about sports, movies, and reading
Frances – does changing diapers and kissing boo boo’s count? These days my hobbies include taking a shower without interruptions, photography, and keeping up with friends through their blogs
Lucy – playing with Bella, helping wash dishes, playing arcade games, coloring, cutting, and gluing
Bella – playing with Lucy, getting dirty and making big messes, splashing in puddles, going on walks and racing to Dina Dina
Simon – eating, sleeping, and smiling!
Our favorites:
Jamie – Alabama football, Braves, gifts!, Malcolm Gladwell, spaghetti
Frances – getting together with friends from college, brownies, Sunday naps, babies, Mentor Moms at our church
What you probably didn’t know about us:
Jamie – I’d love to live in Italy one day. I love playing arcade games and now that I have kids it’s an excuse to go to the arcade. I hate it when Frances beats me, but thankfully she doesn’t win too often.
Frances – I beat Jamie more than he remembers (but still, it’s pretty rare). I grew up on a farm where my Dad still raises turkeys and beef cattle. Spartanburg is the biggest place I’ve ever lived!
